Here is your easy recipe in 20 minutes for a healthy dish

Chilla is basically an Indian pancake. It is so versatile that one can add any combination of ingredients to the basic besan paste and come up with something new that tastes different. Lauki chilla is one of those versions that people love. The dish can be served both for breakfast and dinner. The recipe is very simple and only takes 20 minutes.


3 or 4 cups grated bottle gourd (lauki)

3 to 4 cups of besan

A quarter cup of semolina (ravasooji)

A quarter cup of curd (dahi)

1 tablespoon chilli powder

A quarter of a tablespoon of asafoetida (hing)

A quarter of a tablespoon of turmeric powder (haldi)

Salt to taste

Three quarters of a tablespoon of oil for greasing

Half a tablespoon of oil for cooking

To serve:

Tomato ketchup

green chutney


Combine all ingredients in a bowl with half a cup of water and mix well.

Heat and grease a non-sticky tava. Grease the tava with a quarter of a tablespoon of oil. Then pour a ladle of the mixed batter over the tava and spread it evenly.

Cook it with half a tablespoon of oil until both sides are golden brown.

Serve immediately with tomato ketchup and green chutney.
