The small BMW coupe is no secret to consumers. Although these small cars are as basic as the entry level, BMW and Mercedes still seem to be getting into this market. I’ve always struggled to understand why they continue with this, but if it was for the price, I must be missing something.
In typical manufacturer fashion, there’s a move where they say get rid of something that was satisfying at best in the sales department and redo it years later, but with a new name. Similar to the grocery store, same shelf space, new name, new bias and everyone is flocking to try it. Well, BMW, I caught you! Similar to the BMW 1 Series Coupe which entered the market in 2013, it is now the redesigned 2 Series. Showing small to moderate changes over Series 1, Series 2 appears to be a partnership between Series 3 and the discontinued Series 1. The real question…why?
The 3-series is clearly BMW’s best-selling model in the fleet, and producing something smaller that offers a price discount seems pointless as consumers are happy with the 3-series. I know too many numbers to keep track, but stay with me. As the creator of the model number naming convention, BMW must know something that I don’t and they do! The Series 2, for a base price reduction of $5,000 over the Series 3, really gives you the overall feel of a two-seater, but with small seats in the back when the family is in town for two weekends. ends per year. It literally reminds me of the same styling, just in the coupe-like bends.
Originally, Series 1 didn’t make sense to me, and when I heard Series 2 was in transit for a Grasso’s Garage review, I was skeptical. But in typical BMW fashion, it was funky, smooth, powerful and definitely a fun coupe to enjoy.
